This session will provide a comprehensive overview of Visual Impairments as an eligibility category under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Participants will explore the various types of visual impairments, their definitions, and the impact these conditions can have on student learning and development. They will delve into the specific eligibility criteria for Visual Impairments, the assessment processes involved, and the critical role of the teacher of students with visual impairments (TSVI) in determining eligibility for special education services.

By the end of this session, participants will be empowered with the knowledge and tools needed to advocate for and support students with visual impairments, ensuring a more inclusive and accessible educational environment for all.
