Course Purpose
Increase awareness of North Dakota’s Dyslexia Screening Law (Module 7), so K-1 assessment practices better align with the law.
Course Learning Objectives
🎯At the end of this course, you will be able to:

Identify the four different types of reading assessments and understand the value of conducting an assessment audit.

Identify the root causes of reading difficulties using the Simple View of Reading and decision-making tools to determine a student’s lowest skill deficit.

Analyze and interpret foundational literacy assessments, including phonemic awareness, letter-sound, and nonsense word screening measures.
- Use state guidance and reflection tools to support effective literacy assessment practices, including awareness of North Dakota’s Dyslexia Screening Law and assessment audit resources.
